ABOUT THE FILM

We all need a home. But why live there together?

Moving in with his partner – the idea fills filmmaker Marko Doringer with anxiety and doubt. Does it feel right? Is it normal to have doubts? To find out, he not only re-examines his relationship, but also takes a close look at his generation’s various life plans. The result is a witty study of present-day relationships and of striking a balance between one’s self-centered life on the one hand and the other person’s desires on the other.

The film perceptively tackles this very private subject that seems symptomatic for an entire generation. A film about love, egoism, solidarity, fear of failure and courage.

FILM STILLS

MARKO DORINGER ON THE FILM

  • Excerpt from a film conversation with Marko Doringer:

“At the start of shooting GLOBALLY YOURS I was 35. Apart from a few relationships, with the longest lasting barely a year, I had been up to this point single, independent and free. And then for the first time in my life I began sharing a flat with a woman. I realize that this is no big deal for many people – but I was really anxious about it: being tied to a woman for the first time – by way of a rental agreement.”

“There’s no recipe for a successful relationship. If I had given up on my goal of finding an answer to the question of how today a fulfilling partner relationship is possible, I would have gone crazy. Indeed, there are at least as many answers as there are relationships. But I was more interested in finding couples representative of my generation who find themselves in life situations of great relevance for my public. While I don’t give my public any answers or solutions to take away, I offer in any case some fresh ideas about life, our society, our goals and the longing for love. And maybe also the chance to see some things differently after the film’s 90 minutes.”
